The OSGi Alliance is a worldwide consortium of technology innovators that advances a proven and mature process to create open specifications that enable the modular assembly of software built with Java technology. The OSGi Service Platform facilitates the componentization of software modules and applications and assures interoperability of applications and services over a variety of networked devices. The OSGi Service Platform is delivered in many Fortune Global 100 company products and services and in diverse markets including enterprise, mobile, home, telematics and consumer.

The alliance provides specifications, reference implementations, test suites and certification to foster a valuable cross-industry ecosystem. Member companies collaborate within an egalitarian, equitable and transparent environment and promote adoption of OSGi technology through business benefits, user experiences and forums. The alliance also promotes collaboration among important ecosystem players within and outside the OSGi Alliance in order to provide the market with innovative solutions based on open standards.

Adoption of the component-based platform reduces time-to-market and development costs because it enables integration of pre-built and pre-tested modules. It reduces maintenance costs and provides aftermarket opportunities because networks are used to dynamically update or deliver services and applications in the field.

Wavenis-OSA

The Wavenis® Open Standard Alliance (Wavenis-OSA) is an international non-profit standard development organization founded to promote the global use and enhancement of Wavenis, an emerging wireless communication technology standard for ultra-low-power and long-range devices.

Wavenis is a two-way wireless connectivity technology platform for applications that need to manage small amounts of data with low radio traffic, ultra-low-power management and high reliability. Wavenis-enabled devices are already at work in a variety of AMR (automatic meter reading), AMI (advanced meter infrastructure), home and building automation, industrial automation, medical and environmental UHF-active long-range RFID applications.

As of today we have published the Full Wavenis Specification version 1.0 for layers 1 and 2, this is available to all paying active members of the Wavenis-OSA. We are working on improvements to this open specification as well as studying the integration of IP into the Network layer of Wavenis. We have also created a Work Group for application layers and are preparing the Wavenis Certification process to certify Wavenis enabled devices.
